Montrose Port to attend major project cargo expo

Montrose Port Authority (MPA) will be exhibiting at a project cargo shipping exhibition in Antwerp this May as part of an ongoing strategy to broaden its customer base and to attract more vessels.

This will be the first time Montrose has exhibited at Breakbulk Europe (23-26 May) and underlines MPA’s determination to attract a broad diversity of shipping to the port. Breakbulk Europe is the largest exhibition focused on the needs of traditional breakbulk and project cargo logistics professionals in the world. In shipping terminology, breakbulk denotes a system of transporting cargo as separate pieces rather than in containers.

Two locally based companies – Rix Shipping Ltd and Whyte Cargo Handlers Ltd – will join MPA on their stand at Antwerp to help showcase the excellent facilities at the port.

Nik Scott-Gray, chief executive of MPA said: “Breakbulk Europe 2016 provides us with the opportunity to meet some of the key players in the international project cargo sector. Montrose is strategically placed as cargo handling hub on Scotland’s east coast and we are well equipped to meet the requirements of a wide variety of shipping, including the provision of deepwater berthing and heavy lift capabilities.”

Montrose Port will be exhibiting on stand number109H3/110H3 at Breakbulk Europe 2016.
