Montrose Port Authority
Draft Masterplan
Shaping the Future of the Port and Our Community
This draft masterplan sets out five ambitious projects that will expand the port’s capabilities, attract a broader range of users, and capture the major opportunities offered by offshore wind. By delivering these projects we aim to secure the port’s long-term success, protect and create local jobs and strengthen Montrose Port’s status as a key driver of the local and wider economy.
Montrose Port has engaged extensively with stakeholders, including Scottish Enterprise, Angus Council, SSE Renewables, offshore wind farm developers and port stakeholders to develop this draft masterplan.

About montrose port
Montrose is a busy port, with around 600 vessel calls per year. Two thirds of these vessels are related to offshore oil and gas and offshore wind, with the remainder being commercial cargo vessels. The port is home to the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) bases for the fully operational Seagreen and forthcoming Inch Cape offshore wind farms, making it one of the largest O&M hubs for offshore wind in the world.
The port had an annual turnover of around £9 million in 2023-2024, supporting around 384 full-time equivalent jobs and contributing £36.4 million to Scotland’s gross value (GVA)*. As a trust port, all profits generated by Montrose Port are reinvested back into the port’s infrastructure and staff along with the local community, supporting growth and longevity.
