Montrose Port Authority Wins Carbon Reduction Award at Scottish Green Energy Awards 2024
Montrose Port Authority is proud to have been awarded the Carbon Reduction Award at the Scottish Green Energy Awards 2024, held last week in Edinburgh. This accolade recognises our commitment to sustainability and innovation and highlights our efforts to lead the way in reducing carbon emissions within the maritime industry.
Pioneering Sustainable Maritime Solutions
The award, sponsored by Statkraft, celebrates the impact of Plug Montrose, our joint venture shore power facility developed in partnership with Plug. This innovative infrastructure represents a forward-thinking approach to reducing carbon emissions in maritime operations by:
- Providing electricity to vessels working in the offshore energy sector while at berth allowing them to decarbonise their operations
- Utilising the port’s electrical grid which has renewable energy guarantee of origin (REGO)
- Setting a new standard for environmental responsibility in port operations
Award Ceremony Highlights
Our Chief Commercial Officer, Lynn Sayer, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the entire Montrose Port team. The Scottish Green Energy Awards, organised by Scottish Renewables, is the largest celebration of green energy in the UK with more than 1,660 people in attendance, showcasing the collective dedication to sustainable energy solutions. Alongside this recognition of our efforts, it was inspiring to see fellow winners being honoured across various fields.
