Pioneering Sustainable Maritime Solutions

The award, sponsored by Statkraft, celebrates the impact of Plug Montrose, our joint venture shore power facility developed in partnership with Plug. This innovative infrastructure represents a forward-thinking approach to reducing carbon emissions in maritime operations by:

  • Providing electricity to vessels working in the offshore energy sector while at berth allowing them to decarbonise their operations
  • Utilising the port’s electrical grid which has renewable energy guarantee of origin (REGO)
  • Setting a new standard for environmental responsibility in port operations

Our Chief Commercial Officer, Lynn Sayer, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the entire Montrose Port team. The Scottish Green Energy Awards, organised by Scottish Renewables, is the largest celebration of green energy in the UK with more than 1,660 people in attendance, showcasing the collective dedication to sustainable energy solutions. Alongside this recognition of our efforts, it was inspiring to see fellow winners being honoured across various fields.

Thank You to Plug

The success of Plug Montrose is a testament to the strategic partnership between Montrose Port Authority and Plug. Our collaborative approach demonstrates how targeted innovation can drive meaningful carbon reduction in the maritime and offshore energy sectors. We are incredibly grateful for Plug’s expertise and commitment and we look forward to continuing our shared mission to lead the industry in carbon reduction.

Looking Ahead

This award is both a milestone and a motivator to us at Montrose Port. It reinforces our mission to reduce our environmental impact and invest in sustainable solutions. As we work towards our goal of carbon neutrality, we remain dedicated to leading the way for greener maritime operations.

We’d like to thank Scottish Renewables for organising such a fantastic event and for all their continued support to champion renewable energy initiatives across Scotland.
